ITOWNSHIP 2009 WINE FEST
RECEIVES PRAISE!

Gugulethu was host to the 2nd annual iTownship Wine Festival this past weekend, 29th - 31st October, attracting a wide range of locals and internationals, including politicians. The 3-day event saw scores of people descended on Gugulethu soils, to taste more than 200 different types of wines exhibited. Cape Town Executive Mayor, Dan Plato, was among the group of people who attended. He was joined by German Consul-General, Hans Werner Bussman and Siegfried Schneider, Minister in the office of the Minister-President of Bavaria, Germany, who were part of a 25 member German delegation. Commenting on the festival, Bussman said the festival was a clear indication that black people were willing to break the barriers of the past. ITownship Wine festival is Cape Town’s only wine event held annually in the townships. The event is an initiative of Mother Africa Uncorked, a non-profit organization established to educate emerging markets about wine. The event is organized by the wine crew company .
